-Cover courts and the death penalty in Central Florida’s largest county, including the leading prosecutor’s recent decision not to seek the death penalty for any defendants.
-Strive to cover breaking news and crime in the Orlando area as quickly and accurately as possible by streaming live video from crime scenes and providing frequent updates on Twitter and the Sentinel’s website.
-Covered the Pulse nightclub shooting starting about an hour and a half after it began. Have since written about police policy and followed the families of some of those who died as they learn to cope with life without their loved ones.
-Maintain a publicly-available database of every homicide in seven Central Florida counties since 2015, using information from law enforcement agencies, public records requests from medical examiners, and court records, at OrlandoSentinel.com/Homicides.

-Worked on three-person team to report and write investigative pieces for two local community publications: The Dorchester Reporter, a weekly paper in Boston’s largest neighborhood, and Cambridge Day, a news website for a vibrant city of 105,000.
-Used public records, Freedom of Information Act requests, Excel database analysis, and in-depth interviews to report on the exponential rise in food stamp use in Dorchester and Cambridge, inactive Boston community centers, and restaurant inspectors with little enforcement power in Cambridge.
-Was a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist for breaking news reporting along with the rest of the Orlando Sentinel staff for coverage of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting.
-Had a small part in The Boston Globe’s reporting on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent manhunt for the suspects, for which the Globe staff won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news reporting.
-Received the 2013 Boston Globe Impact Award, an internal recognition for work the night of the manhunt for Marathon bombing suspects.
