I'm Gal Tziperman Lotan, a reporter and data enthusiast.

I love integrating peoples' stories with carefully-collected data to help readers understand more about the communities around them. I have covered criminal justice, legal policy, and business.

I am a breaking news and courts reporter for the Orlando Sentinel. I've also worked for the Boston Globe and its paywalled website,; the Initiative for Investigative Reporting at Northeastern University; the Patriot Ledger, a daily newspaper in Quincy, Mass.; and the Jerusalem Post, an English-language paper in Israel.

I've complied a database of every homicide in seven Central Florida counties since 2015; covered the Pulse nightclub shooting from the early-morning hours to how families of victims adjusted to life after tragedy; and written about a terrified caricature artist confronting the man who ended his career, people who helped the injured after the Boston Marathon bombings, and an elementary school girl who really, really likes bats

I graduated from the Northeastern University School of Journalism. I speak Hebrew, English, and paltry Spanish.

You can reach me at tzi (dot) gal (at) gmail (dot) com. I'll be happy to hear from you.
